Audemars Piguet launched three new variations of the Royal Oak Offshore this week — with a new dial design, two-tone ceramic case, and a rubber strap textured to look like fabric.

At 44 mm x 14.4 mm, the case dimensions and movement is exactly the same as the existing larger Royal Oak Offshore line, such as the latest camo ROO models introduced last year (and worn by Bobby Axelrod on Billions). There are also 42 mm Royal Oak Offshores that share the same movement but have round instead of flat-pushers and slightly different dials and colorways.

The sportiest version of the Royal Oak is presented in an ultra-light, scratchproof ceramic case, with a black ceramic case middle and new contrasting blue ceramic, green ceramic, or 18K pink gold accents. The dial of the blue and green versions match the bezel, strap, pushpieces, and crown, whereas, on the pink gold model, the dial is black, which matches the case, strap, crown, and pushpieces.

Beyond the new ceramic color combinations, most notably, the new dial has a new “smoked” gradient treatment that gets darker towards the peripheral, and applied Arabic numerals (except at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock), similar to the styling available on some of the 42 mm Royal Oak Offshore references. Except with the larger diameter dial, the Audemars Piguet’s design team was able to fit larger, easier to read indices — including a double index 12.

While the cases are ceramic, the pushpiece guards, emblazoned cap on the ceramic locking crown, screwed caseback, and pin buckle are either titanium or 18K pink gold — depending on the model. Water-resistance is rated to 100 meters.

Underneath the dial, is Audemars Piguet’s venerable caliber 3126/3840 — not the newer caliber 4401 movement which powers the 11.59 Chronographs that were introduced last year — because the newest AP chronograph caliber is too wide for this case. The 3126 movement runs at 3Hz, measures 29.92 mm x 7.16 mm, has 59 jewels, 365 total components, and 50-hours of power reserve. The functions are the same as before: hours, minutes, small seconds, date, and chronograph.
