At Watches and Wonders 2025, Tudor revealed an upgraded version of its popular 39 mm Black Bay 58 collection.
The Black Bay 58 Burgundy maintains approximately the same dimensions as the original Black Bay 58, which was first unveiled in 2018 (we did an in-depth review of it in 2019). At 39 mm x 11.72 mm, you get a great size for many wrists (Tudor also makes 43 mm, 41 mm, and 37 mm versions of the core Black Bay).
Numerous iterations have been introduced following the 2018 debut, however, this is the first Black Bay 58 reference to receive Tudor’s next-generation “Master Chronometer” movement, which is proudly stamped on the new subtly domed satin sunburst-brushed burgundy dial with silver accents.
The original 41 mm Black Bay received a similar treatment in 2023, although Tudor gave that model’s burgundy dial gilt accents versus silver. Silver will presumably resonate with a larger audience than anything gilt-colored. Tudor followed with a monochrome 41 mm Black Bay in 2024, which we named one of our Four Best Watches of 2024.
A burgundy anodized insert and unidirectional count-up dive bezel, applied hour markers, and Snowflake hands complete the no-date face of the watch.
One of the best upgrades to the Black Bay 58, which debuted on the new Black Bay 41 mm models introduced in 2023 and 2024, is a reshaped screw-down stainless steel crown, fitted closer to the case, sans a visible crown tube. This is a minor yet important evolutionary change that makes both the Black Bay and Black Bay 58 more wearable and attractive.
Tudor is now offering the option of a stainless steel 5-link Jubilee-style bracelet, a stainless steel 3-link rivet-style bracelet, or a rubber strap, all equipped with a Tudor “T-Fit” rapid adjustment clasp.
The Black Bay 58 Burgundy’s biggest technical change is the implementation of manufacture caliber MT5400-U, which measures 30.3mm x 4.9mm, beats at 4Hz, has 27 jewels, a silicon hairspring, stop seconds, bidirectional automatic winding, variable inertia balance with micro-adjustment by screw, and a 65-hour maximum power reserve. Most importantly, this automatic caliber is Master Chronometer certified by COSC and METAS.
A slightly domed sapphire crystal, screw-in stainless caseback, and 200 meters of water resistance round out the new Black Bay 58 Burgundy dive watch.
While it’s clear the prices have gone up since we reviewed the original Black Bay 58 — unlike some watchmakers who raise prices with no marked improvements — at least Tudor has elevated the construction and aesthetics and in particular, they gave it a new high-performance in-house Master Chronometer movement.
The retail price is $4,275 for the Tudor Black Bay 58 Burgundy on an integrated rubber strap, $4,500 for the 3-link rivet-style bracelet, and $4,600 for the 5-link Jubilee-style bracelet.
