FP Journe rarely introduces new timepieces. Instead, the Genevan watchmaker focuses on marketing existing models.

Journe’s faithful fanatics will then be pleased to hear that the tantalum one-of-a-kind timepiece produced for the last Only Watch auction, will now be available as a regular production model in a similar form.

The Chronomètre Furtif features the same 42 mm x 9.5 mm case and 18K red gold movement with backside moonphase and power reserve indications, now in an all-new matte black tungsten carbine case (an alloy of tungsten and carbon), and matching integrated bracelet.

Considering the “furtif” is translated from French to English as “stealth” — the tone-on-tone dark gray fired enamel dial, with lased-engraved markings, is fitting. The stealthy theme continues when you consider that the time is visible almost exclusively to the wearer, but when viewed from other angles the visibility is cloaked, so to speak.

Providing a stark contrast to the otherwise all-black timepiece, the bezel, crown, caseback, and case bumper are in shiny silver tantalum.

One thing that’s unchanged from Only Watch timepiece, is the incredible manually wound FP Journe caliber 1522 that has an 18K red gold mainplate and bridges, and a movement side power reserve and moonphase indications.

The Chronomètre Furtif  (Ref. CF) offers hours, minutes, seconds, power reserve, and moon phase and has a maximum power reserve of 56 hours. This watch is not a limited edition, although all Journe watches are available only in limited quantities. The retail price is CHF 85,000 or about $95,000.
