This week, G-Shock launched its second limited-edition timepiece collaboration with professional surfer and Olympic medalist Kanoa Igarashi.

The G-Shock G-Lide GBX-100KI has the same resin case and stainless steel bezel seen in the standard G-Lide GBX100 watch collection — with a digital graphic of Igarashi surfing a massive wave printed on the bezel and mineral crystal. The number “50” is printed on the strap’s lug side, which is Igarashi’s number on the WSL Championship Tour. And, the dial, caseback, and strap tip feature his engraved signature and there is a neutral wave motif throughout the timepiece.

Kanoa Igarashi started surfing at age three has won several major surfing competitions and is currently a world-class professional surfer competing on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour at the top of the sport. Fittingly, using the GBX-100KI’s Mobile Link functions allows for the watch to be paired with the dedicated smartphone app, which includes location data from approximately 3,300 preset locations worldwide. Naturally, a tide graph, sunset/sunrise times, moon data, and other essential features for surfers are standard.

In addition to the already mentioned features, the watch comes with a variety of functions that are useful for daily training, such as distance traveled, time, and pace. The wide watch face uses a high contrast Memory in Pixel (MIP) LCD for optimum visibility in all conditions. At this price point, solar is not included, however, the included CR2032 battery lasts for up to two years and is inexpensive to replace. The GBX-100KI is water-resistant to a rated depth of 200 meters, highly shock resistant, and durable enough to be used for a plethora of sports, not just surfing.

The GBX-100KI retails for $200 and will be available for purchase starting in late December.
