Cincinnati’s young star quarterback, Joe Burrow had jeweler Leo Frost create thirteen customized diamond-encrusted G-Shocks for his O-line.
Burrow contacted Frost in November to commission him to customize G-Shock GM6900SCM-1 watches for each of the 13 offensive linemen on the roster. Leo Frost has an Instagram following of almost 700K and has worked with Burrow and other high-profile athletes in the past.
The Casio 6900 series is a G-Shock classic and was also the base for the first and second John Mayer x Hodinkee x G-Shock collaborations. Instead of gray or cream, the case of the GM6900SCM-1 is translucent and the factory version carries a retail price of $210.
While this is not an official collaboration with G-Shock — the 14-carats of diamonds that Frost pave set in white gold on the bezel and dial of the G-Shocks are aftermarket — the association with Burrow could positively influence Casio sales the same way Mayer has. Each lineman’s name was engraved on their bespoke “bust down” G-Shock 6900.
After winning the Heisman Trophy and the College Football National Championship in 2019 Burrow was drafted first overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. Following his rookie year in the NFL — which was cut short due to a major on-field injury — he’s fully recovered in 2021 and has led the Cincinnati Bengals to the top of their division, with the third-best record in the AFC.
Burrow’s one of the NFL’s most exciting playmakers and clearly has a bright future — but none of his accolades are possible without a strong offensive line.
