For 2022 G-Shock has updated its popular G-Steel collection and is essentially a more refined version of the GST-B400.

The new G-Shock G-STEEL GST-B500 is available in Japan and will be on sale in the US later this year.

At launch, there will be five references, silver GST-B500D-1A with black dial and red accents, silver GST-B500D-1A1 with an all-black dial, silver GST-B500AD-3A with green dial, black GST-B500BD-1A, and gold GST-B500GD-9A.

Even though Casio sold out the limited edition Kermit version of the G-Steel, at this time, the closest replacement is the green dial variant GST-B500AD-3A, however, we expect additional references to be announced later this year.

For this new collection, all models have a stainless steel bracelet, with no rubber option at this time. The GST-B400, which we reviewed last year, was available in both rubber strap and steel bracelet variants. While the GST-B400 weighed just over 160 grams on a bracelet, the new GST-B500 weighs in at just 143 grams with the bracelet, which reflects additional weight-saving refinements made to the latest G-Steel collection.

Additionally, the new slightly revised case design is a few tenths of a millimeter thinner at 12.8 mm (GST-B500) versus 12.99 mm (GST-B400).

The final key change for the 2022 GST-B500 is that Casio merged the two digital displays at the bottom of the dial.

While the US prices have not been provided yet, we project a retail price range of $300 to $500.
