First created as a unique piece for the 2023 Only Watch auction, Urwerk now plans to sell a limited number of Nixie floor clocks.

Standing over five feet tall, and weighing just over 88 pounds, the Urwerk Space-Time Blade is no ordinary Nixie clock.

Using eight vertically positioned, handmade Nixie bulbs, Urwerk has developed a clock that can display six different indications, depending on the mode you set it to. The creation was made in collaboration with Dalibor Farny, who specialized in crafting Nixie tube lamps that, like Urwerk watches, become functional pieces of art.

Urwerk Space-Time Blade

The Nixie clock can be set to six different modes:

  1. Time indication in hours, minutes, seconds
  2. Time indication in hours, minutes, seconds, 1/10, and 1/100 of a second
  3. Indication of kilometers covered in one day (Earth’s rotation at the Equator)
  4. Indication of kilometers traveled in one day (Earth’s revolution around the Sun)
  5. Indication of kilometers traveled in one year (Earth’s revolution around the sun)
  6. Maintenance process

The Nixie bulbs are protected by a glass tube that sits on a wax-cased bronze pedestal, that fittingly (most of Urwerk’s designs look space-themed or from Star Wars) looks a lot like a Stars War lightsaber.

For those with the means, the Space-Time Blade will look incredible on the floor in the right home or office space. Limited to 33 pieces, the Space-Time Blade retails for $60,500. The first one will be auctioned for charity at Only Watch in 2024.
