Mido recently debuted the Ocean Star Tribute Special Edition which is a retro-styled dive watch presented in a 40.5 mm stainless steel case.
The Ocean Star comes with either a black or a blue dial and a unidirectional countdown dive bezel with a matching black or blue aluminum insert. The case is fully polished, with a screw-down crown (protected by crown guards), box-type domed sapphire crystal, and a screwed caseback decorated with a polished starfish in relief, the historical symbol of Ocean Star.
The hour and minute hands are flat diamond-cut and have a generous amount of lume, along with the indices and 12 o’clock dot on the bezel which also have luminescent material. The varnished orange seconds hand features a lollipop lume dot on the front end and a circular orange counterweight on the opposite end.
In addition to central hours, minutes, and seconds indications there is a day/date display at 3 o’clock. The watch is powered by an automatic ETA based caliber which beats at 3Hz, has Geneva stripes on the rotor, is decorated with an Elaboré-grade finish, and has an 80-hour power reserve.
The Ocean Star comes with a stainless bracelet that features a folding clasp and a diving extension. Also, included is an additional textile strap with white stitching for the blue version and a black fabric-look leather strap made with orange stitching for the black variant.
Retail is $1,150.
