Following watch releases each of the past two years — using the Gérald Genta brand name — the Bulgari/LVMH-owned company has released a retrograde timepiece again this year.

Genta sold his company to Bulgari in 2000, and while that’s where the association comes from, Hodinkee reported that “Bulgari says that Gérald Genta will be its own brand, moving forward.”

After the Gérald Genta 50th Anniversary watch in 2019, then the Gérald Genta Arena Bi-Retrograde Sport in 2020, for 2021 the Gérald Genta Arena Retro Mickey Mouse Disney is the latest retrograde timepiece from GG.

Delivered in a 41 mm x 11.85 mm stainless steel case, the watch uses a 26.2 mm retrograde minutes caliber, based on Bulgari’s BVL 300. The jumping hours aperture in the lower right of the dial shows the current hour and Mickey Mouse’s finger points directly to the current minute as it progresses from left to right on the arc of the 60-minute track. Of course, the best part is when the minute hand, which is literally Mickey’s hand, hits 60 and instantly snaps back to zero and restarts (this is the”retro” or “retrograde” function).

The retail price is expected to be approximately $19,500 and there will be 150 pieces available when the watch is officially launched in January 2022.
